Chateau Bellevue, Amphorae, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, 2018, France

Aged for 408 days in clay amphorae, the aromas of black fruits, such as blackberry and blackcurrant, and red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, blend harmoniously. On the palate, the attack is frank and powerful. All the expression of the terroir is brought together in this cuvée of deep minerality which can be enjoyed both young and old.

What could be more original than a material made from water, earth and fire….

We aged these 3 grape varieties from our oldest vineyard (Château Mercier which has been in our family since 1698) for 408 days in “Amphores” of 140 to 700 liters in French and Italian clay. The choice of this breeding is the love of clay pottery which was transmitted to us by our mother, the natural origin of the material and the neutrality of the terracotta which respects the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir and finally extremely natural breeding without any “violence”.

A 100% Merlot cuvée aged for 408 days in amphorae created from clay from the south of France and Italy. This gives a complex wine (black cherry, blackcurrant and red fruits on the nose, salty touch on the palate), fresh on the attack, rich, powerful and long in its development. A distinguished ensemble, serving fruit, which can be enjoyed both young and old.
