Prokupac is one of the Balkan Peninsula’s most widely planted red grapes, though, curiously, it is not always used to make deeply hued wines. Because of this grape’s proclivity for high sugar levels, it is often used to make high-quality brandies. Several winemakers discovered that, when macerated for a short time, this grape could display refined, elegant red fruit aromas in rosé wines. Finally, after years of experimentation, several high-quality winemakers turned this grape into an ageworthy red wine with layers of complexity.
Aleksandrovic Prokupac has intense aromas of ripe sweet cherries and sour cherries that are complemented by the aromas of cloves, cinnamon and elegant vanilla tones. The taste is rich and harmonious, with tones of black cherries and black currants accompanied by extremely soft and silky tannins.
