Starborough 'Family Estate' Pinot Gris, Marlborough, New Zealand

An elegant wine with a finely concentrated palate displaying aromatic white and yellow stonefruits lifted by exotic florals, rose-petal elements and complex nutty and flinty nuances. The wine shows excellent fruit intensity and silky texture, leading to a lingering smooth finish. Serve with Asian cuisine

Starborough ‘Family Estate’ ‘Sons of the Soil’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2019 Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is elegant ant tightly bound with a fine core of white and yellow stonefruits along with a little nutty note, unfolding pear elements and chalky minerals. Dry to taste, the palate is softly concentrated with fresh flavours of white and yellow stonefruits with pears and subtle notes of exotic florals. The fruit forms a well-packed heart and flows along a bright and vibrant line with a little underlying power and drive. This is smooth and near seamless with fine acid balance providing energy and tension. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering finish. This is a softly concentrated, elegant dryish Pinot Gris with exotic flavours of stonefruits, pears and florals on a smooth flowing palate with some power. Serve with Asian cuisine over the next 3 years. Starborough is a family owned and operated boutique Marlborough wine producer, with vineyards in the Wairau and Awatere valleys. In 1865, William Jones came to Marlborough from England looking for a farm and a brighter future. Four generations later the Jones family continue that tradition with Starborough wines. Today the Jones family own and operate 130 hectares of vineyards in three unique vineyard blocks – on the southern bank of the Awatere Valley, the lower Dashwood and the Wairau Valley. This includes the original Starborough sheep station homestead block for which their wine is named. The Jones family continue their tradition of arable farming as well as viticulture and winemaking.
